Adding Events

Adding events to your timeline is easy - just draw them in place with your mouse. Events can be either a single point in time or a span of time. Follow the steps below to add a new event:

  1. Click the "Add" button in the toolbar or hold down the Command key.
  2. Click and hold the mouse ...
  3. Release the mouse when you're done positioning and sizing the event. A new event is created and ready for editing.
  4. Type a title for your event in the editor.
  5. Press return when finished editing the title.

Notes

Events cannot 'collide' with other events. If you attempt to add an event in a position that will overlap an existing event, it will start out automatically positioned above or below the place you clicked to avoid overlapping. Similarly, if your new event collides with other events while positioning, it will not move until you position the mouse over an empty area on the timeline.

The "ceiling" of your timeline automatically adjusts to contain all events. If you run out of room, drag the event toward the top of the timeline document (past the dotted line) and the ceiling will automatically expand as you position the event.

If you make a mistake, you can always undo!
